Lumbini

The birthplace of Lord Buddha, is situated about 250 south-west of Kathmandu in the Kapilvastu district of Nepal. The broken Ashoka pillar, remnants of an old monastery and images of Buddha’s mother Maya Devi are still preserved there. It is accessible by air and road which takes about 6-7 hours from Kathmandu and about 4 hours from Machan Wildlife Resort.

Rafting

Rafting in Nepal is a river runner’s paradise-no other country has such a choice of multi-day trips away from roads, in magnificent mountain surroundings with warm rivers, a semi-tropical climate, impressive geography, exotic cultures, wildlife and friendly welcoming people.

The most accessible river for a rafting trip is the Trishuli which is followed by the National Highway. However, there are other rivers like the Kaligandaki, Bhote kosi, Sunkosi, Seti and Karnali which are more for professional rafters than for beginners.

The optimum length trip in the Trishuli river is three days, as it gives you a full and satisfying experience - you run all the major rapids, watch the river grow as its tributaries join, marvel as it cuts its way through impressive gorges, then leave it when it spreads out over the great plain of the Ganges. If your time is limited, then a one or two day trip can also be arranged, these short trips vary from fairly relaxed floats, avoiding the more difficult rapids, to one day ‘roller coaster’ specials.

Trekking

The Nepal Himalayas has always been known as ‘The abode of the Gods’. It is the youngest and the highest mountain chain and harbors many holy temples and shrines, monasteries and sacred lake in the wilderness and remote parts of the region. To trek one does not have to be a bizarre, neither a mountaineer nor an athlete. Anyone with a pair of strong legs and spirit for adventure to explore the exotic, will enjoy the thrills of trekking in the hills of Nepal. The range of trekking route is diverse from 2-3 days to the extent of scaling any of the 18 minor trekking peaks taking almost 3 weeks to a month.
